Capturing people’s imaginations gets harder by the day. So does taking them somewhere they haven’t been before. This year’s inaugural So Frenchy So Chic in the Park aimed it to do both. It succeeded by recasting the familiar as exotic: Werribee Park Mansion as a private estate in Provence. We added fine food: hampers of gourmet French fare, stalls serving crepes, macaroons and roasted nuts. Then fine wine and fine weather. Then we took a crowd of 4000 through a feast of Paris’s most exciting contemporary pop, indie and hip-hop acts and what began as a relaxed, languid picnic had, by sunset, spirited itself into a feverishly wild revelry.

Broadsheet

“French champagne, wine and picnic hampers stuffed with all manner of Parisian delights were consumed as barefooted patrons weaved between picnic rugs towards the stage, played croquet on the lawn and explored the property in large sun hats and summer frocks”
