Lost in France

lou EDM

We’re back. Did you miss us? That’s the sound of a suitcase opening and four weeks worth of partying outfits falling on the floor. So, what to report after a month of festivals and gigs across France? It’s the season of the songstress, my friends. France is abuzz with music from female singer-songwriters who really pack a punch. Names to look out for: Yael Naim, Camelia Jordana, Hindi Zahra, Brigitte, Christine and the Queens. Yael Naim you’ll know from New Soul, the song Apple picked up for its MacBook Air ad back in 2008; her latest album Older is just out. Christine and the Queens turned heads at SxSW in March, with The Huffington Post touting her as music’s Next Big Thing; she now counts Madonna and Lorde as fans. Camelia Jordana first appeared on TV show Pop Idol, but has since established herself as a formidable talent with two acclaimed albums. Hindi Zahra, also Franco-Moroccan, has garnered numerous accolades with her distinctive songwriting that incorporates Berber lyrics and melodies, while indie-folk duo Brigitte kept us dancing, well, the whole night long. And now? Well, let the reign of the songstress continue: we’re just waiting for Lou Doillon’s latest album to land.

Which of these bands would you like to see at So Frenchy So Chic 2016 ?
